What Is M.A.T?

MAT looks at muscle tightness as a form of protection in the body. When a specific muscle, or multiple muscles are weak, or inhibited, they can create the need for other muscles in the body to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. MAT gets to the root of the pain or injury by addressing muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness.

What Is M.A.T Jumpstart?

MAT Jumpstart practitioners have been taught to objectively evaluate and identify biochemical imbalances within the body. The trained assessor will perform a series of noninvasive evaluation techniques on the client. He / she will check the range of motion of every single joint of the body to try and identify an asymmetry.

After an asymmetry is found (and there will be somewhere), the assessor will then check for any possible weaknesses within that joint. If there are any significant weaknesses found during a certain strength test, he / she shall then ask the client to perform some isometric contractions (short, gentle, painless contractions) with the inhibited muscle(s).

What's The End Result?

Once the weak or inhibited muscle has been strengthened using the isometric contractions, range of motion within that joint may be restored. This all helps to restore normal body alignment, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.

Who Will Benefit From An MAT Assessment?

Pretty much anybody that has a muscle imbalance, or weakness on their body will probably benefit from MAT. It's a noninvasive procedure that has been proven to be very effective in the field of fitness and rehab.

What if I do not see any results from the Jumpstart?

If you don't see any benefits from the isometrics then I highly recommend seeing an MAT masters practitioner. You can find one at Integra Training which is located near Liverpool St station.
